Parent Meeting Recap
Thank you to parents who were able to attend the Parent Meeting Monday, Sept. 2nd. The following is a summary of what was covered. Please don't hesitate to ask questions.
Safe Sport - US Center for Safer Sport
As a follow-up to our discussion and sharing our resources (drop-down menu on our team site), here’s the link for you to log in and then take course for parents. Athletes are required to take the course when they turn 18. Athletes 12 - 17 are encouraged to take the course.
Team Unify - Our Website
With our website (on the Team Unify platform), please enter your phone number to receive SMS notifications for emergencies such as immediate pool closure (foul weather…). Without your phone number, we can only use your email address to send you group emergency information. For personal situations, we will call the number on file.
Below are the important windows to know how to access:
See our drop-down menu for our policies on Photography, Social Media, Locker Room Policy, Athlete Code of Conduct, Coaches Code of Conduct, Parent Code of Conduct, Travel Policy…
Swim Meets
Signing Up - Generally, all you need to do is to sign your swimmer up with a “commit” or “decline”
-
Meet notices on our website will have the warm-up time
-
Be there 10-20 minutes before our assigned warm-up so that coaches can start warm up on time and the athlete can get the full warm-up.
-
Pending the venue, parents are either with the team or separated. Plan on providing your own shade. It is common for parents to bring a 10x10 tent for themselves along with a couple of chairs.
-
Your swimmer will need healthy snacks, fluids and a game to play with a teammate or two.
Officiating - We need officials to run swimming meets. Without officials, meets won’t happen. Consider joining the ranks of the ASC officials. Melissa Schad, Rayna Williams, Carol Ann Rose, Robyn Scarth, Oscar Pouoa… Ask any of these folks about how to get involved. There’s a significant reduction in ASC dues for those who fully participate. Officiating can be "dryside" - working the console / clerk or "wetside" - working on deck.
