BEST WISHES to COACH MARK as he leaves for Ann Arbor, Michigan on Thursday. He has the honor of being emcee at the celebration of life for legendary Michigan and OIympic Coach Jon Urbanchek. Coach Jon was a mentor and significant influence in Coach Mark’s life.

WORKOUTS THIS WEEK:

  • Bronze 1 – 4 – 4:40. Monday & Wednesday, w/ Coach Barbara
  • Bronze 2 – 4:45 – 5:25. Monday & Wednesday 4:45 - 5:25 w/ Coach Barbara
  • Bronze 3 – 5:30 – 6:30 - Monday, Wednesday & Thursday w/Coach Amanda
  • Silver – 5:30 – 6:30 – Mon, Wed & Thurs w/Coach Barbara
  • Gold – 5:15 – 6:30. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday w/ Coach Kerry
  • Senior – regular week: Mon, Wed & Fri AM / everyday 3:30 PM– w/Coach Mark & Kerry
    • Coach Kerry will cover practice when Mark is gone

SATURDAY is the Pentathlon Plus Distance Meet at Kamehameha Schools, in Kea'au.  We have 50 swimmers committed to the meet.  Warm-ups start at 7:30 AM, competition pool closes at 8:45 AM. Competition starts at 9 AM. There will be more information coming later this week re: need for volunteers, specific warm-up time for groups, etc.  Coach Kerry will be bringing tents - appreciate help setting up and taking down. Swimmers may want to bring chairs to sit it.  At Kamehameha we are assigned the alcove on the spectator side of the pool.  Parents are in the stands.

MEET SCHEDULE:

  • Oct. 26-27: Bill Smith Invitational, Oahu – ASC has 16 swimmers committed to the meet.
    • Times from Oct. 19 events will count, as entries are emailed October 20 - confirm entries w/coaches.
  • Nov. 2:  HPA, Big Island Swimming
  • Nov.15 – 17:  Senior Champs, Oahu – Qualifying Times Sr. A and 2 “B” if “Sr - A”
    • Meet notice posted on our website
  • Dec. tbd: afternoon, piggy back High School Meet
  • Jan. tbd: afternoon, piggy back High School Meet
  • Feb. 8: Big Island Swimming – Last Chance to Qualify for States / JAG
  • Feb. 27 – March 2: Hawaii Age Group Champs, Kona – Qualifying Times Required
    • 11, 12, 13 & 14 year olds have different time standards for this meet and will swim as single age divisions. 10 & U / 15-18 are status quo.
  • Mar. 8 & 9: Junior Age Group Champs, Maui – Qualifying Times of A or INV Required
  • Mar. 27 – 29:  Kona Senior Spring Invitational, Kona – Qualifying Times Required
