Wow ! What a weekend of competition !!!

The Senior Meet on Oahu was a challenging sitation that required flexibility and resiliency. Between the flight being cancelled -  that 7 swimmers & Coach Mark were on - and the timing system breakdown causing the meet to run late, it is to their credit that the 5 swimmers who attended focused and were strong competitors. Thank you to Paige, Tara, Oscar and Misty who scrambled and were able to get swimmers over to Oahu. Each athlete swam an individual event and two knockout events:

The “knockout 50’s meet” is a different format for our swimmers, with the preliminary round held at the beginning of the evening and the knockouts (top 8 to 4 to 2) held after the individual events. 

In the knockout rounds ASC swimmers swam well:

  • Kaiea was 1st in the 50 Fly
  • Coleson was 2nd in the 50 Breast
  • Kaiea and Eddy were 3rd in 50 Free
  • Kali was 7th in the 50 Free & the 50 Back
  • Eddy was 8th in the 50 Back
  • Pemma made top 8 in the 4th position, but had to leave for the airport

4 New ASC records were set:

  • Kali broke her own 50 back and 100 Fly records for 13-14
  • Pemma broke her own 50 Breast record for 17-18
  • Coleson set the 50 Breast record for 17 -18

 

In the Age Group Big Island Swimming Meet in Kona, ASC had 31 swimmers competing.  Thank you to Melissa Schad, Ranya Williams, Carol Ann Rose & Mahea Yamashita for officiating.  ASC timers for the meet were Lora Sakai, Brett Ferguson and Rachel Rogerson and Tara Kennedy split a duty – thank you for working the meet and representing the club. Many best times were swam, which are posted in red on the bulletin board at the pool

Two new ASC Records were set:

  • Ema broke teammate Pemma’s record in the 17-18 50 Back
  • Levi broke his own record in the 13-14 50 Fly

New time Standards were achieved:

15-18

  • Ema: SrA in 50 Free & 50 Back, Sr B in 100 Back

13-14:

  • Kylie: IN in 100 Fly
  • MaunaKea: B in 200 IM

11-12:

  • Elliot F: IN in 100 Breast & A in 200 Free & 50 Breast
  • Jace: AGWZ in 50 Free
  • Momi: B in 100 IM & 50 Breast

10 & U:

  • Lokelani: A in 100 Back
  • Kosta: INV in 100 Free
  • Alana: B in 100 Free
  • Kamaha’o: A in 100 IM & B in 50 Breast & 100 Free
  • Oliver: B in 100 IM
  • Zoe E: B in 100 IM

8 & U

  • Oliver: A in 50 Free & B in 50 Breast
